Macaroni Kid Review: Jets Training Camp For the Football Fanatics

By Angeline Sheridan July 13, 2017

For all of us crazy Jets fans, the New York Jets begin training camp at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center in Florham Park on July 30, 2016. We took our son and his friends to the Jets Training Camp last year as part of his birthday celebration, and we had a blast despite the oppressive heat.

Prior to practice starting, the Jets Fest had fun activities for the kids, including an inflatable obstacle course and big slide, skills games, concessions and more.

We loved the GIANT inflatable Jets player.

Be sure to get in line for the shuttle while the kids play at Jets Fest. We lost track of time and missed the last shuttle so we walked to the field, which took a while with 15 energetic boys to corral.

The training fields are a lot bigger than I thought! If you arrive late (like we did), there are areas around the field where you can still catch a glimpse of the players. We stood directly behind the sidelines, and my son managed to get Eric Decker to turn around and wave at one point during practice - the highlight of our day!

We did not stay the whole time, but we were told that some Jets players will sign autographs for kids after practice is over. How cool is that?

Overall, it was a great family experience: my son and hubby were so excited and happy to bond over for their favorite football team. Lets go, Jets!

Training camp will be open to the public July 31 at 2:30PM, August 6 at 5:30PM, August 13, 14 and 21 at 2:30PM. Admission is free but tickets are required. For more information and to reserve tickets, visit the Jets website.

Macaroni Tips:

  • Everything takes place outdoors. Be sure to stay hydrated and bring lots of sunscreen.
  • Be prepared to walk. The parking lot is a bit of a distance from to where the kids activities are. To get to the training field, you can wait for a shuttle or walk, which takes about 10 minutes when you have little ones with you.
  • If you want to experience everything, arrive when the gates open to play in the kids' activities area, grab a bite to eat and head over to the training field. Seats to watch the Jets play fill up quickly so be sure to hop on the shuttle bus before training starts.
  • Stay until after practice ends for an opportunity to get autographs by Jets players.
