The Valley School
, a Reggio-inspired educational child development program for infants, toddlers and pre-kindergarten children, proudly opened its doors this year.  Their mission is to foster a community that nurtures the whole chlld - socially, emotionally, physically and cognitively - while encouraging curiosity and inspiring creativity.

Located at 24 Wampum Road in Park Ridge, The Valley School offers flexible year-round programs for infants, toddlers, and pre-kindergarten age children, as well as flexible summer schedules for young campers ages 2-8.  Before care beginning at 7AM and after care ending at 6PM are also available options to round out the 9AM to 3PM teaching day.

The Valley School is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, a world-renowned pedagogical method that recognizes and respects young children as powerful thinkers.  The professionally trained Valley School teaching staff is dedicated to observing and listening to the interests and needs of its children.  Meaningful questions are asked, ideas are discovered, projects are explored and comprehensive, emergent curriculum unfolds!

Children at The Valley School are empowered to be imaginative, collaborative and active participants in their learning.  Evidence of this is found in the numerous examples of their work, respectfully displayed throughout the school.

Parents are an essential element at The Valley School.  Also active participants in the learning, parents share their skills, traditions and most importantly, their ideas.  It is through this special partnership and dedication to communication and involvement that the development and best interest of every child at The Valley School is given the utmost consideration.

The Valley School recognizes the community as an important part of every child's learning.  Children are citizens of the world and need a sense of belonging to the communities in which they live and learn about.  The Valley School is continually establishing partnerships within the community.  Children will discover new generations through their Intergenerational Art Program, develop gross motor skills and learn about the roles of community workers with special visitors such as doctors, firefighters, Girl Scout Troops and more!
