Oh no! Super Grover lost his Super-ness! It's a good thing Sesame Street is filled with friendly monsters willing to lend a helping hand.
My family and I had the opportunity to see Sesame Street Live Presents Elmo's Super Heroes at The Theater at Madison Square Garden this past weekend. It was an amazing dance-in-your-seat and clap-along experience for the entire family. My boys, ages 2 1/2 and 3 1/2, are both into super heroes right now, so this show was right up their alley. They were completely entranced by the colorful characters and their dance moves. The performers did an amazing job dancing so well in those costumes. I also appreciated that the musical numbers incorporated some adult music as well, making it easier for Mom and Dad to sing (and dance) along. Besides being entertaining, the show had a wonderful storyline: it taught children the basics of staying healthy everyday. I made sure I pointed out to my sons that even Super Grover needed a nap. (Oh nap, please stay for a while longer!)
One of my favorite parts of the show was watching Super Grover fly across the stage. It made my sons' jaws drop, while this mama cracked up big time. That moment reminded me of how much I loved Sesame Street when I was a kid (Mr. Snuffaluffagus was my favorite character).
Overall, Elmo's Super Heroes was a great family experience, and I can't wait to take my boys to another Sesame Street Live show. And I might write the production company and try to get Mr. Snuffaluffagus in the mix next time.
