Connecting Mind and Body With Little Shanti Yoga

I have always had lots of energy and have been on the move ever since the day I was born.  I have played every sport you can think of.  I am a second degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and when I was younger, I loved to spar all the boys in class just because I knew I would win.  But, I truly never knew how strong I was until the day I did yoga.

Yoga As Competition
Being an energetic person, I like to sweat and the competition of sports.  I never thought I would step into a yoga class, but now that I have, it has been my biggest competition.  Yoga strengthens both your mind and body and allows you to connect the two.  It is a test to see how calm my mind can be and how balanced my body can get.  I like to tell my students: “Yoga uses every muscle, from your brain to your toes.”  There has never been an exercise that has made me look and feel different, than the way yoga does.

The Key To Feeling Whole: Keeping Life Simple
I am a Certified Kids Yoga Instructor and Holistic Health Coach for children and their families.  I also have taught natural living and sustainability on a farm to kids for the past 8 years, managed 3 farmers’ markets, and was an apprentice on Merrifield Farm in Maine.  I believe that living the most natural, simplest kind of life is the key to feeling whole.  I hope that by teaching kids healthy habits at an early age, they will take it with them for the rest of their lives.

The benefits of yoga and eating right are endless. Kids can learn to understand their bodies and feel free to grow into who they really are. With yoga, kids are able to grow strength, confidence, and build focus. Yoga relaxes your mind and with stretching and breath work, it can even ease anxiety and lower stress levels. Every body is different. Eating the right way for your body, goes hand in hand with yoga. If your body feels good then it is able to perform its best!
