Disney Junior Live On Tour! Pirate & Princess Adventure

A Macaroni Kid Review

By Angeline Sheridan April 10, 2014
My four year old son and two year old daughter are big fans of the Disney Junior Show Jake and the Neverland Pirates so we were thrilled when we were invited to review the new Disney Junior Live on Tour! Pirate and Princess Adventure show at the IZOD Center. Plus it was great to share the experience with our friends at Macaroni Kid Ramsey!

The new production - from the same makers of Disney on Ice - is a live performance of the hit Disney Junior shows Sofia the First and Jake and the Neverland Pirates complete with the shows' theme songs, dancing, and music. Ten minutes before the show starts, there is also a special appearance by Doc McStuffins to get everyone's sillies out. And of course, what Disney live production wouldn't be complete without our lovable pals Mickey and Minnie setting the tone for the rest of the show?

Disney Junior Live on Tour! Pirate and Princess Adventure is a wonderful opportunity to introduce young children to musical theater. The show has two separate story lines about Sofia and Jake each about 30 minutes long, with a brief intermission in between. There was a little audience "battle" between lovers of pirates and princesses led by Mickey and Minnie in the beginning of the show, but in the end they both won in my book.

I highly recommend taking the kids to see Disney Junior Live on Tour! Pirate and Princess Adventure. My children loved watching familiar TV characters come to life on a stage filled with songs, dancing, laughs, and opportunities for the audience to take part in the stories. It was a thrill to see some Disney movie characters make an appearance as well (I won't spoil who they are for you!) Like the Disney Junior shows, Disney Junior Live on Tour! Pirate and Princess Adventure also provides important life lessons for the children to take home.

Macaroni Kid Tips If You Go

  • Arrive at least 45 minutes early, especially if you are picking up tickets. We arrived an hour ahead of show time so we had enough time to get our tickets, use the restrooms, take some pre-show pictures, and find our seats without feeling rushed.
  • There is a short intermission about 35 minutes into the show. This is a great time to fuel up on drinks and snacks for the next adventure.
  • Be prepared to be bombarded with souvenirs and food from the concessions stands. Pack your own snacks to avoid paying $12 for popcorn.
  • The show is best for children under 10. The show is mostly dark with some theatrical smoke involved, which may frighten some children. Other things that may frighten small children are Captain Hook and Tick Tock Croc.
  • For those sitting in the first few rows, you're in for a bubbly, glittery treat!

The show will also be performing at the Westchester County Center April 10-13 and at Madison Square Garden April 17-21. For more information, click HERE
