"Every year, my daughter and I would go to the original Cheryl Fudge Fashion Camp in Nantucket to create our own fashion pieces. My daughter loved to wear what she designed over and over again," recalls Marlena. "Every time I left the store, I've always said I wanted to bring this home. Finally last year, I met with Cheryl Fudge and told her I am bringing Cheryl Fudge Fashion Camp to New Jersey."
Cheryl Fudge Fashion Camp is a unique retail and hands-on fashion workshop experience for children, teens and adults (think Project Runway but without the stress of sewing). Located on 512 Livingston Street in Norwood, Cheryl Fudge Fashion Camp opened its doors to the public in January 2014, being only 1 of 5 locations in the United States (the others are in Nantucket, Santa Monica in California, Darien in Connecticut, and Coral Gables in Florida).
Don't let the storefront and quirky name fool you into thinking this is just another classy retail store with cute merchandise and candy for the kids. It does have the high-quality merchandise and a candy bar from a dentist's worst nightmare (you've been forewarned!!). Cheryl Fudge Fashion Camp is actually named after its founder Cheryl Fudge, known for transforming vintage Gucci and Chanel scarves into quirky-sexy halters favored by celebrities like Fergie and Julia Roberts. Fudge took her styling acumen and created a retail store experience that allows the customer to transform trendy clothing and accessories into custom-made designs.
Beyond the racks of fashion-forward syles by Cheryl Fudge, you'll find tables and chairs where you can embellish the merchandise available at the store and transform them into one-of-a-kind pieces that truly reflect your own individuality. And no worries about knowing how to sew - Cheryl Fudge Fashion Camp will do all the sewing for you!
Keep walking toward the back of the studio, and you'll find the best part of Cheryl Fudge Fashion Camp: a cafe and lounge area - complete with a fashion runway, which is unique to the Norwood location. Parents can come and relax with a smoothie or cup of coffee, while their children design and create a one-of-a-kind fashion statement to their heart's desire.
