Diggerland USA: A New Place To Dig!

A Macaroni Mom's Review

By Michelle Radice July 2, 2014
My family and I had the opportunity to check out Diggerland USA, New Jersey’s newest amusement park located in Camden County’s West Berlin, approximately two hours from Bergen County. A construction lover’s heaven, this park is comprised of different construction equipment and similar themed rides.

The park was very clean and well-managed. What sets it apart from other amusement parks is that it is extremely hands-on and interactive. We had the opportunity to use a real backhoe and dig in the sand, drive a bobcat, take a ride on a carousel with bucket seats, and even try our hands at using a mini-wrecking ball to knock down mini bowling pins.

To my surprise, both my six year old son and five year old daughter were equally entertained and pleased by Diggerland’s offerings. The kids drove mini land rovers all by themselves and even turnpike tractors. The park definitely had enough to do to keep the kids and grownups entertained for a few hours including an arcade, rock climbing wall, ropes obstacle course and kid zone playground complete with infant swings.

I was very impressed with the snack stand which served up grilled ham and cheese on pumpernickel & rye swirl bread, a decent portion of chicken tenders and fries to split between my two kids, and pretty awesome chili cheese fries – definitely not your average amusement park fast food.

On a hot sunny day there are not many opportunities for shade other than small umbrellas spaced throughout the park and a covered dining pavilion. It might be a good idea to plan to spend half the day at nearby Sahara Sam’s Water Park and half the day at Diggerland to fill a whole day with fun!

Overall, we had a great day at Diggerland USA. The staff was exceptional, friendly, courteous and very helpful. They were also very informative on the different types of equipment that we used. I'm glad we got a chance to check out this unique place before the crowds discover it.
