Walking With Dinosaurs- The Arena Spectacular

A Macaroni Kid Review (Sponsored)

By Angeline Sheridan July 24, 2014
"Walking With Dinosaurs - The Arena Spectacular" has been captivating audiences worldwide since 2007 when it debuted in Sydney, Australia. Being big dinosaur fans, my family and I were thrilled at the opportunity to see "Walking With Dinosaurs - The Arena Spectacular" at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey this summer.

Based on the 1996 Emmy-winning BBC television series, "Walking With Dinosaurs - The Arena Spectacular" is a theatrical experience like no other. With a palentologist as our guide, we traveled through the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods to see how the dinosaurs must have lived 240 to 68 million years ago. We witnessed battles between old and young Torosaurus Triceratops.

We saw the ultimate battle between a T-Rex and Ankylosaurus.

We even saw the tender side of the mighty T-Rex and baby T-Rex.

Along the way, we learned a thing or two about the evolution of the flora and fauna that co-existed with the dinosaurs.

The creative team did a phenomenal job creating dinosaurs that are as lifelike as they get, as well as designing a set that was visually appealing.

Our guide provided an excellent narration of how the dinosaurs lived and their environment, which was entertaining as well as educational. There were some technical difficulties with the T-Rex during our performance, but overall, "Walking With Dinosaurs - The Arena Spectacular" is a must-see for dinosaur fans as young as 4 years old.

Macaroni Tips:

  • Bring headphones. The music is loud, and the roars of the dinosaurs could be startling for little ones under age 7.
  • Pack a snack if you don't want to spend a fortune on food at the concession stands.
  • Leave babies and toddlers at home. The show is 90 minutes long with a 20 minute intermission, which was just long enough for my 5 year old to tolerate.
  • Don't miss it! "Walking With Dinosaurs - The Arena Spectacular" is playing at Prudential Center through July 27.

Disclosure: Macaroni Kid - Northern & Pascack Valley was provided complimentary tickets to Walking With Dinosaurs - The Arena Spectacular in exchange for advertising its performances at Prudential Center. All opinions are solely that of the author.
