Marvel's Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. Inspires Next Generation of Heroes

A Macaroni Dad's Review

My family and I were recently invited to check out the world premiere of Marvel's Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N., at Discovery Times Square located in the former New York Times Building in New York City. My twin boys are 4 years old, and they absolutely loved the experience.

Marvel's Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. (Scientific Training and Tactical Intelligence Operative Network) is a highly interactive experience for Marvel fans ages 3 and up. Visitors are recruited to join S.H.I.E.L.D. and train in the Avengers' official training headquarters. Each recruit receives an "Agent-In-Training" card with his/her name on it, which is used to participate in the experiments and games. At the end of the training, everyone gets to take the card home - a nice keepsake to remember the experience.

My boys' favorite experience was becoming Ironman. They stood in front of a screen, which scans their bodies and superimposes the Ironman suit on them. They were then able to control the Ironman suit through their body gestures. Ironman could take a test flight, dance, and target practice. SO. COOL.

In addition to the interactive activities, there were also exhibits showing intelligence files and the history and origins of The Avengers.

Discovery Times Square is a great day trip for families and kids. Besides the Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N., there are other exhibits to check out (for an additional cost): The Art of the Brick featuring a collection of art made from LEGO pieces by Nathan Sawaya, and Body Worlds: Pulse, a multimedia exhibition about the human body. These are geared more towards older kids as well as adults.

Pricing for Marvel's Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. is $27 per adult, $19.50 per child ages 3-11 and $23.50 per senior age 65 and older. For more information, visit www.discoverytsx.com, call 866.987.9692 or email. Discovery Times Square is located at 226 West 44th Street, New York, NY 10036.
