Viva Las Vegas: Scenes from Macaroni Kid's Annual MeetUp

By Angeline Sheridan October 23, 2014
In case you haven't been following on social media, this Macaroni Mom spent a rejuvenating four-day weekend with fellow Macaroni Kid Publisher Moms and Dads at the lovely JW Marriott in Las Vegas. The saying "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas" does not apply here. The annual Macaroni Kid Publisher MeetUp was too good not to share. Below are the highlights in pictures and video. Enjoy!

LIVING IN LUXURY

Our accommodations at the JW Marriott was top-notch. Spacious hotel rooms, beautiful grounds, and an inviting outdoor pool are just a few things I loved about this hidden gem. For my full review, click here.

THE SWAG

Christmas came early with all the great swag from our Macaroni Kid sponsors. Yummy Pretzel Crisps, organic tea by Numi, books from to The Mother Company and Penguin, Wowwee toys, and fun family board games by SpinMaster are just a sampling of what we got. I'm so excited to share with you a few of our favorites, which I thought would make great birthday presents or holiday stocking stuffers:

Sprukits - the poseable model kit which lets you assemble your own Batman, Joker and Superman. Moveable parts make this toy unique, providing hours of fun! For ages 5 (with help from a parent) and up. Great stocking stuffer! To check out my son's video review, click here.

Poketti - designed by young California sisters Sydney and Toni, Poketti is a plush toy with a back pocket that can hold whatever you might like to stash as you sleep or snuggle. My daughter instantly fell in love with how soft Poketti, and the back pocket was just the perfect size for her favorite mini Little Mermaid doll. Check out my daughter's video review here.

Skylanders

My 5 year old flipped when he saw pictures of me and the new Skylanders game. How cool is it that Skylanders is now available on tablets???

Moustache Smash family board game

What do you get when you put a moustache and a swatter together? Hours of family fun! Moustache Smash by Spin Master was by far the biggest hit during Macaroni Kid's Family Game Night on Saturday.

eCreamery custom ice cream!

We got a sampling of this sweet treat by eCreamery, and it was delish! eCreamery's customizable ice cream flavor and ice cream name will definitely be on my short list of things to get those hard to please people on my Christmas list this year.

AWESOME, INSPIRING AND ENTERTAINING SPEAKERS

Speakers at MeetUp were awesome! Besides hearing words of wisdom from MacKidMamaBear Joyce Shulman and MacaroniDad Eric Cohen, it was awesome to meet digital correspondent Sarah Evans, who shared useful tips on ways to expand our social media presence. Jonathan Wolske - culture evangelist for Zappos Insights - shed light on creating a business culture focused on customer service. Creativity for Kids co-founder Phyllis Brody reminded us the importance of fostering creativity among children, and NY Times best-selling author and iFart app creator Joel Comm challenged us to connect and be ourselves all while having fun.

ON THE STRIP

The last time I saw Blue Man Group was about nine years ago in New York City. The men in blue remained true to their musical roots, with an added bonus of Vegas-style dance partying in our seats.

NEW FRIENDS

It was so great to meet Publishers from all over the country! Can't wait till 2015 where we meet again at the Westin Hotel in Fort Lauderdale. Hello Sunny!
