Natural Recipes for Toxic-free Lice Prevention, Treatment

August 27, 2015
Back to school preparation is in full swing: new backpacks, new clothes, updated physicals. Families should also remember to take preventive measures so that kids avoid getting head lice at school, which is the most common way it spreads among children according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Ava Anderson Independent Consultant Corissa Stepp offers the following easy toxic-free suggestions to prevent and treat lice.

PREVENTION:

Lice like clean hair so only wash hair 2-3 times a week using Ava Anderson toxic free shampoo with 1 teaspoon of tea tree essential oil added to the shampoo.

TREATMENT:

1 cup apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons Ava Anderson shampoo
1/4 teaspoon of tea tree essential oil
1/4 teaspoon lavender essential oil

Work in well from scalp down and cover with shower cap. Keep solution on for at least 15 minutes. Comb out dead lice/eggs with nit comb. Repeat every other day for 3 applications. Refrigerate leftovers.

Clothes, bedding, and towels can be washed in hot water with 1 teaspoon tea tree oil, and 1 cup apple cider vinegar to help prevent re-infestation.
