Goldfish Swim School Wyckoff Makes a Big Splash

A Macaroni Kid Review

By Angeline Sheridan February 27, 2017

Of all the classes my kids take, swim lessons are the most important. I want my kids to understand water safety and be strong, confident swimmers. When Goldfish Swim School in Wyckoff invited me to check out their swim program, I was excited for my four year old daughter to try it. Isabelle has had swim lessons at other locations, but we had difficulty sustaining her interest in them. At Goldfish, she immediately felt right home.

Before her first class, my daughter and I got a tour of the facility, which is very family-friendly. The brightly painted walls are warm and welcoming. The spacious waiting room has ample chairs and tables, and there are plenty of toys and coloring books for kids to keep busy while waiting for their class.

For anyone that has taken their kids to other swim programs in the area, you know that the most tedious part about the lessons is changing the kiddos in and out of their bathing suits. I like Goldfish's roomy changing rooms, ample cubby spaces for our things, and the clean bathrooms. The showers adjacent to the pool are convenient for a quick rinse, and the hair dryer station and the dryers for bathing suits are a nice luxury. We leave class ready for our next activity that day, and no more wet bathing suits sitting in the laundry basket!

What I love most about Goldfish Swim School is how the instructors regularly communicate to the parents about the lessons. At the end of the first class, I received an assessment of Isabelle's skills so I am aware of her strengths and what she needed to work on in the weeks ahead. Five minutes before the end of each lesson, the instructor gives a progress report for that lesson. Isabelle is so proud to show me what she learned that day, and loves the ribbons she receives for each new skill she masters. It is such a great way to motivate her to learn more, and she looks forward to her swim class each week.

The school offers daily swim lessons throughout the year, which is great for families with children who are at varying skill levels. Each weekly lesson is 30 minutes long, and the class has no more than 4 students. Besides swim lessons, Goldfish Swim School also offers Family Swim every Tuesday through Friday, which is open to members and non-members for a small fee, a swim team for proficient swimmers, special events and birthday parties.

I would highly recommend checking out Goldfish Swim School in Wyckoff if you are looking for a family-friendly, clean and safe environment for your children to learn to swim. For more information about Goldfish Swim School, call 201-254-3474 or visit wyckoff.goldfishswimschool.com.
