Mom's Not Cooking: Where to Dine for Mother's Day around Bergen County

The second Sunday of May officially became Mother's Day in the United States in 1914, thanks to the efforts of Anna Jarvis. Jarvis wanted to honor motherhood and the sacrifices mothers made for their children.  What better way to honor the work of mothers by giving them a day off from cooking and cleaning up the kitchen! 

Here are Macaroni Kid's top 10 picks for best places for Moms to enjoy their day off and enjoy time with family and loved ones. We've noted any restaurants that offer a special prix fixe menu, which is a great option if you haven't been to the restaurant before. Be sure to call ahead to make reservations.


Andiamo's (23 Hardenburgh Avenue, Haworth, 201-384-1551) - classic Italian dishes like pasta with Chef Linda's meatballs 

Basque Tapas Bar and Restaurant (587 Piermont Avenue, Piermont, 845-395-3100) -  authentic Spanish food particularly the paella and octopus, paired well with a flavorful Sangria in a cozy atmosphere; 1PM, 3PM and 5PM reservations.

Ventanas at the Modern (200 Park Avenue, Fort Lee, 201-583-4777) - excellent Asian-Cuban fusion dishes, including celebrity Chef Burke's famous clothesline bacon and sushi.
