I have always loved our small town community spirit, and nothing brings out more of that spirit than during a crisis. Within days of shutting down almost everything in the state of NJ, we have seen individuals and businesses quickly come together to help others in their time of need. 🤝 AREA RESTAURANTS JOIN FORCES TO FEED HEALTH CARE WORKERS

Restaurants in Closter - Buon Gusto, Ma Mi Eatery, and Zendiggi - have partnered with Haworth Helps and community member Bari Adler to raise donations to feed health care workers working to fight COVID-19. Donations raised from the GoFundMe Page will be used by participating restaurants to make individually packaged meals to area health care workers in local hospitals including Englewood Hospital.

Update: since publishing this article, many more groups and restaurants have stepped up to deliver meals to health care workers on the frontlines. The Council of Irish Associations of Greater Bergen County is collecting donations to feed COVID-19 healthcare workers. They offer different levels of participation: $250 feeds 50 meals from a local restaurant; $100 buys 20 hot meals or $30 buys a round of locally brewed coffee. You can also donate any amount. Donations can be made at http://www.BergenCountyIrish.org/ or send checks payable to The Council of Irish Associations of Greater Bergen County, care of Quentin Kennedy at 303 Parkside Road, Harrington Park, NJ 07640.

😷 SEWERS ANSWER PLEAS FROM HEALTH CARE WORKERS ASKING FOR MASKS
The rapid increase in COVID patients at local hospitals have resulted in a shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) including N95 masks. Community members with sewing machines have teamed up to meet immediate needs of health care workers while they wait for additional supplies to arrive. One such hometown hero is Harrington Park resident Dawn Bogosian who started sewing on Saturday, March 21, and within days had an outpouring of support by way of donated supplies and a team of mask makers. Over 200 hundred masks have been distributed to workers at Holy Name Hospital, Valley Hospital, Englewood Hospital, Hackensack Hospital's pediatric critical care unit, local police departments and the ambulance corps in the Northern Valley towns. Another group of mask makers is based in Ho-Ho-Kus, Waldwick, and Wyckoff. The social distance practicing production and assembly line is centered around the Waldwick Whistle Stop. The group of 30 mask makers started by Johanna Laliberte, her mother Patricia Laliberte, Tami Moses, and Heather Moses has already made 900 masks that are being distributed to six hospitals and three medical and therapeutic facilities in New Jersey, five hospitals in New York including one children's hospital, one hospital in Michigan, and three children's hospitals in Florida. Monetary donations for materials and supplies are being accepted at the Waldwick Whistle Stop located at 27 Frederick Street in Waldwick.
