If you are looking for fresh produce outside of big box grocery stores, be sure to check your local farms. Many of them are open and available to re-stock your fridge with fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs. Some also offer their favorite baked goods, meat, eggs, cheeses, local honey, and even household items like paper towels and toilet paper. Abma's Farm offers fresh produce, eggs, meat, dairy products, dry goods (coffee, honey, beans, etc) and breads. If you are elderly or immunocompromised, curbside pickup once a week is available. Walk-in grocery hours are Mondays through Fridays from 8AM-6PM and Saturdays from 8AM to 5:30PM. There is a limit to 10 people in the store at any given time. Grocery delivery is available Tuesday through Friday from 10AM to 6PM for local seniors ages 60+ only and immunocompromised persons living in Wyckoff and surrounding area. Demarest Farms has opened its farm store, offering hamburger and hot dog rolls, sliced bread, dairy products such as eggs, milk and cheese, fruits, vegetables, gourmet foods, homemade soups, bacon, hamburger patties, chicken fingers, bleach, toilet paper, and paper towels. The store is open for curbside pickup Mondays through Saturdays from 9AM to 5PM. Order and pay online HERE and staff will contact you about when to pick up your items.
DePiero's Farm offers daily contactless curbside pickup of fresh produce and baked goods that you can pick and choose from their extensive list (subject to availability). Call 201-930-8678, text 201-579-0664 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for your order and they will contact you to process your credit card. Fresh & Fancy Farm is now delivering for a $15 fee in addition to its curbside pick up services. They are still offering a four-week produce box for $140 or a weekly produce box for $45 for curbside pickup or delivery. The produce varies by week and includes fruits, herbs, and vegetables. Eggs and honey are also available as additional items that can be added to the the produce box. Fruits, vegetables, tomato sauce, chocolate sauce as well as flats of plants are available for curbside pickup or delivery as well. This unique small farm based in Hackensack uses hydroponic vertical farm methods to grow pesticide-free, 100% vegan produce. Greens Do Good is owned by the non-profit organization REED Next, which provides services to adults with autism, and all profits from the farm goes back to REED Next. Typically servicing restaurants, caterers, and country clubs including Edgewood Country Club in River Vale, Greens Do Good is now selling produce directly to consumers. Check their Instagram profile for prices and daily offerings, which usually includes butter lettuce, basil (live or cut), and a variety of microgreens at competitive prices. Order over the phone by calling 201-960-2355, and get delivery within a day. The delivery fee is a nominal charge of $3, and Venmo payment is available. We ordered the butter lettuce, live basil, and the spicy microgreen mix, and all were fresh and delicious:
Hope Cress Farms is based in Blairstown, New Jersey, and will be a recurring vendor at the River Vale Farmer's Market on Thursdays starting June 4 from 2PM-6:30PM. You can preorder fresh meats including beef and pork by the pound, as well as eggs, vegetables, and a wide variety of microgreens. The meats come frozen and most are individually packaged by 1 or 1/2 pound packs. Brisket orders are a minimum of 3 pounds. Prices are comparable to organic meat sold at specialty stores. Old Hook Farm offers online ordering Tuesdays through Sundays from 10AM to 4PM and curbside pickup within 72-hours of placing your order depending on availability of items and timing of your order. The farm offers organic fruits and vegetables, as well as a variety of breads, pies, and baked goods (all subject to availability). Stokes Farm offers a boxed variety of mainly vegetables and herbs and some fruit which varies by week but feeds a family of 4 for about a week. Curbside pickup of their boxes is on Wednesdays from 10AM to 4PM. Online ordering for delivery opens a week before scheduled delivery - check the website for details and towns where the farm delivers. Vegetable box is $40. Vegetable and donut box combo is $60. The make-your-own-vegetable-garden kit (see pics below) is $15 and includes seeds and pots with potting soil. Our kids are enjoying watching their seeds grow. Van Houten Farms offers curbside pickup of seasonal fresh produce, local cage-free eggs, local organic meats, local honey, and local milk and cheese. The farm now as an online store HERE and items will be available for pickup. For organic meat orders, email firstname.lastname@example.org. The farm will call to confirm when your order is ready to be picked up. Orders are picked up in the back parking lot, and staff will place the orders in your trunk.
