Don't forget your bags.

Single-use plastic bags are now banned at all New Jersey stores and paper bags at larger grocery stores. The bill was signed into law in the fall of 2020 and is now in effect.

Helpful information you need to know:

What types of bags are banned?
Stores are banned from giving out single-use plastic bags when checking out. Plastic bags are can be used with packaged meat, produce and dry cleaning. Paper bags are also banned at grocery stores but retail clothing stores can still provide paper bags.

What do I do when I go to the grocery store?
Bring your own reusable bags! Plan to buy bags at the register if you forget or wish to use bags. You can always cart your purchased items out to the car and put them directly into the trunk. Stores cannot require customers to purchase a reusable bag.

After some time, our muscle memory will just take over, but for now, remember to bring a bag when grocery shopping.
