Description

The parade will step off at 10:30 AM from the normal location in front of George White School.  The route will be from Magnolia to Knickerbocker, then west to Broadway, then down Broadway to Veterans Park.

The theme for 2022 is “Honoring Those Who Made the Ultimate Sacrifice in (Afghanistan) Operation Enduring Freedom 2001 to 2021.”  All the Hillsdale schools are participating in a poster and essay contest with this theme.  Selected winners will be given the opportunity to read their essay or poem as part of the ceremony.  The Pascack Valley High School Band will play at the ceremony as well as march in the parade.

This year’s Grand Marshall is Phil Langner, Past Commander of American Legion Post 162.  He is a U.S. Army veteran and is a member of a Gold Star family, having lost his brother, Robert, at Iwo Jima in 1945.  The Deputy Grand Marshall is Guido Borella, a WWII U.S. Army combat engineer who was awarded a Purple Heart during his service in Europe.  Guido will serve as Grand Marshall in 2023.
