Stomping And Crafting At JW Tumbles

A Macaroni Mom's Review of JW Tumbles' Independent Classes

By Lisa Pisano February 6, 2014
My toddler son and I had the chance to take advantage of two FREE trial classes at JW Tumbles (321 Broadway, Hillsdale) that were recently offered. Since it was our first time coming to JW Tumbles, it was a great way for us to get a feel for what the play space had in store for the little ones.

The first class we tried was Artsy Kids.  The hour-long program started with some free play – which my 3 ½ year old LOVED. The class then proceeded into a circle time where Miss Emily introduced the mostly toddler bunch to the color wheel, and did a little hands-on lesson on the primary colors, utilizing bean bags to help illustrate her points.

It was then off the mats, and over to the tables, where coloring and crafting awaited the kiddies. They completed a “Color Math” sheet with Miss Emily leading them through which primary colors make secondary colors. And then my son’s FAVORITE activity of all – using glue and construction paper bits to make his very own rainbow!

The following week, I took my son back to JW Tumbles to experience Stompers/Jumpers, which was geared toward independent play and involved a full hour of supervised mat time, with the moms hanging back a bit.  My son enjoyed learning how to do a forward roll, swing on monkey bars, and best of all – participate in his first-ever scooter race!

We had a great time. And since JW Tumbles recently relocated to its current location in Hillsdale, everything was very clean and well-maintained, which is always something I look for in a play space for my son.
